The Beggining
Our client discovered us while we were building a pondless waterfall in his Tracy neighborhood. After seeing our work, he scheduled a consultation to discuss his own water feature. Although he initially considered a pondless waterfall, his love for koi led him to choose a custom koi pond instead. With an open backyard and a clear vision, we had the opportunity to create a truly one-of-a-kind project.
The Challenge
The backyard was a blank canvas, but reaching it with our equipment was the main challenge. Existing landscaping prevented a clear path from the street, so we temporarily removed a section of fencing and carefully maneuvered our equipment around the property. Once we established safe access, excavation could begin.
Our solution
What Went Into Creating This Backyard Transformation?
- 25 Tons of Boulders
We installed approximately 25 tons of natural boulders, including larger-than-usual stones selected to give the pond greater scale, character, and a more established appearance.
- Integrated Wetland Filtration
We incorporated the wetland filtration system directly into the stream, providing natural biological filtration while allowing it to blend seamlessly into the overall design.
- Aquatic Plants
We added aquatic plants to soften the rockwork, bring color and life to the pond, and support a healthier aquatic ecosystem.
- Low-Voltage Lighting
Strategically placed low-voltage lighting highlights the koi pond, stream, plants, and rockwork after sunset, creating an entirely different experience at night.
