Pondless Waterfall Rebuild in Pinole, CA — From Frustration to a Flowing Focal Point
What We Walked Into
This project in Pinole, California, began when a homeowner reached out about a pondless waterfall that simply didn’t work. Built by a different contractor, the original feature leaked, looked unnatural, and didn’t complement the yard. The homeowner was frustrated and ready for a real solution.
Our Approach
This wasn’t a small repair. We completely rebuilt the entire waterfall, keeping what worked and fixing everything that didn’t. Our goal was to create a natural-looking stream and falls that blended into the landscape.
Here’s how we did it:
-
Removed and re-used the existing boulders, but placed them correctly for a more natural flow and stronger visual appeal
-
Excavated and rebuilt the basin, installing the right liner, AquaBlox, and underlayment to stop leaks and improve performance
-
Redesigned the layout to follow a more organic path
-
Added gravel and smaller stones to soften transitions and improve water movement
-
Installed low-voltage LED lights to highlight the waterfall at night
The Investment and the Outcome
This transformation came in at around $35,000. The finished waterfall is now a true highlight of the yard—natural, watertight, and easy to maintain. Most importantly, the homeowner can finally enjoy and be proud of her outdoor space.
